Coronavirus (COVID-19) Skillselect round results Devastation - April 2020 – Accountants to 100 points only 50 visa subclass189 offers

Skillselect April 2020

Summary and Comments by Chris Johnston, Lawyer and RMA:

The 11 April 2020 Skillselect round is the first round after the closure of the borders on 20 March 2020.

So it shows us the policy direction of the Government. The direction is to cut skilled migration dramatically.

This is bad news for all those with plans to migrate, as at least for the next few months, it is going to be tough.

A milestone has been hit, that has been building for over five years. The occupations of Accountant hit 100 points. This is very disappointing for all those graduates of finance and commerce degrees.

In the video we created two weeks ago, I drew comparisons to the Government reactions in the 2009-2010 GFC era, which was to cut migration intake.

It seems that a similar response is to be expected in 2020 – 2021.

Please feel free to share this update with anyone any colleagues and friends who might be interested.
