We have many videos on our YouTube explaining the DAMAs.

Skilled Visa Options

For eligible health professionals without employer sponsorship, skilled visas may be an alternative. To apply, you must receive an invitation from the Australian Government or a state/territory government. These visas are points-tested and based on eligibility criteria such as age, English proficiency, education, work experience, and other factors:

Subclass 189 Skilled Independent Visa

  • Does not require state or employer sponsorship
  • Points-tested permanent visa
  • Requires a suitable skills assessment for an occupation on the MLTSSL (Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List).

Subclass 190 Skilled Nominated Visa

  • Requires nomination by an Australian state or territory government
  • Points-tested permanent visa
  • Requires your occupation to be on the state/territory occupation list
  • Applicants must commit to living and working in the nominating state/territory for at least two years

Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa

  • Requires nomination by a state/territory or sponsorship by an eligible family member living in a designated regional area
  • Valid for 5 years with a pathway to permanent residency after 3 years via the Subclass 191
  • Requires your occupation to be on a regional occupation list
  • Must live, work, and study in a regional area of Australia

To qualify for these skilled visas, you must:

  • Have an occupation on the relevant skilled occupation list
  • Obtain a positive skills assessment from the relevant assessing authority
  • Meet the minimum points threshold (currently 65 points)
  • Meet English language (at least competent English)
  • Meet health and character requirements
