870 Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa

The Subclass 870 Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa, commonly known as the 870 visa, is a temporary visa that allows parents to stay in Australia for a longer period to be with their children who are permanent residents or citizens of Australia. This visa was introduced to provide parents with more options to reunite with their children and spend extended periods with their families in Australia.

Stay:

The 870 visa allows parents to stay in Australia for up to three or five years per visa, depending on the application. It is a temporary visa and does not lead to permanent residency in Australia. However, it can be a valuable option for parents who wish to spend an extended period with their children without the need to continuously apply for visitor visas.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for the 870 visa, parents must be sponsored by their child, who must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen. The sponsor must also meet certain income requirements.

Key features:

One of the key features of the 870 visa is the ability to renew it for a total stay of up to 10 years, providing a long-term option for parents to spend time with their children in Australia. The visa also allows multiple entries into and exits from Australia during the visa validity period, providing flexibility for parents to travel between Australia and their home country.

The Subclass 870 Sponsored Parent (Temporary) Visa can be utilized alongside other permanent offshore parent visa options such as the Subclasses 143 and 173. This is particularly beneficial because the processing time for these permanent offshore parent visas typically ranges between 13 to 15 years. By applying for the Subclass 870 visa, you can bring your parents to Australia while awaiting the grant of permanent residency.

Cost:

Up to 3 years AUD5,735

Up to 5 years AUD11,470

Overall, the 870 visa offers a valuable opportunity for parents to spend extended periods with their children in Australia. It provides a flexible and long-term option for parents who wish to maintain close family ties despite living in different countries.

Visa Type: Onshore Partner Visa (subclass 820/801) - Character and Cancellation issues
Date lodged: 7 December 2018
Date granted: 3 July 2020 - straight to permanent residency
Christina Lien from Work Visa Lawyers assisted us with our Partner Visa Application from 2018 through to 2020. As the process played out, Christina wasn’t just our lawyer, in our eyes she was a friend we could trust with our lives, always there with the sincerest advice and the best of intentions, willing to pick up the phone at the drop of a hat at any hour to answer any questions or concerns we may have had. Our case was slightly complicated due to my being on a 457 Visa at the time and having some minor character issues in my past. Christina gave sound advice from the get go and guided us through the entire process successfully. Once the application was submitted, her involvement didn’t stop there, Christina helped us remain confident throughout multiple other scenarios in the process through ongoing, personal communication, one of which was the cancellation of my 457 visa, a situation which was expected but still rather stressful for all involved. I would highly recommend Work Visa Lawyers to anybody, their level of service is highly professional, personalised, detailed, supportive and extremely compassionate.

Thank you for being everything we needed and so much more, we will be forever grateful.

Visa Type: Partner (subclass 100) visa (complex)
Country: Indonesia
Date of application: 8 February 2019
Grant: 9 April 2020 (During COVID-19 Pandemic)
My wife and I originally started a onshore partner visa, which we had problems with and was denied. My wife had to leave Australia and move back to Indonesia, this was an incredibly difficult time for us. After finding the team at Work Visa Lawyers and starting to work with Chris and Christina, they gave us excellent advice and came up with a plan to work through for the visa and dealt with any question immigration had for us. The original problems we had with the first visa were very sensitive issues to deal with, they were excellent with everything kept in good contact with us all the time, they made us very confident through the visa and now my wife has permanent residency. We can't thank them enough and highly recommend Work Visa Lawyers.

Dear Christina and Chris,

We honestly cannot thank you enough for making our long-awaited wish to come true. We have experienced a major problem in regards with our partner visa application in which we seeked help from a previous migration agency which did not provide us with realistic options and we ended up being unsuccessful despite the long process and financial strain it has caused us. Luckily, we came for you service as we have heard a lot about the great work your agency does for families. Right from the beginning, we knew we made the best choice. We felt so at ease and actually helped regain our hope back that we lost due to the previous problems we have come across with our previous migration agency. Christina is very kind and caring and also reassured us every step of the way. She was always quick to respond and always attended to our queries and concerns promptly and in a very kind way. Both her and Chris are very thorough with their work and ensured that we had the best application to give us the best chances of being approved. And they did not disappoint! We were approved of our partner visa and now also my partner's permanent visa in just a short time!

Words are definitely not enough to express how grateful and thankful we are for the services of Work visa lawyers, and in particular to Christina who has been a God-send to us due to all her expertise and knowledge. They have made our lifelong dream come true.

I always will recommend work visa lawyers, particularly Christina to anyone that I know that may be in need of visa support.

Thank you Christina and Chris!!!

After starting the visa on my own, I received an unexpected call from the Immigration Department about a major problem with my application that would lead to a refusal. I didn’t know what to do, but after speaking with family and friends I decided to contact Work Visa Lawyers. I was lucky enough to speak with Christina Lien, who quickly understood my problem and organised a solution. Just one week after our initial appointment we were granted the visa. Work Visa Lawyers really know how to help on legal matters and are very compassionate.  I will recommend their good office to my friends and Family if they ever have any legal problems.

'Thank you to the team at Work Visa Lawyers, in particular Chris and Christina in their support and expertise in lodging our Partner Visa 801 (part B) application.

Any visa has a measure of stress attached, in particular the feeling of being in limbo involved with the period of wait time to hear from immigration.

As we had already been successful in our temporary visa, it was a natural course to engage Work Via Lawyers to continue our journey,

which we had been advised could take up to two years to hear an outcome.

Very clear and concise information was provided to ensure that we had every document required to put our best case forward and Christina kept us informed

along the way and responded quickly when we sent through any queries.

We were overjoyed to receive a call from Christina, seven months after our application, to advise that Chris had been successful in his application.

Amid the onset of COVID19 and restrictions, this was a wonderful bit of news, and means that we can move forward with our plans, once allowed.

Once Chris is eligible to apply for Citizenship, we will be in contact with the Work Visa Lawyer team again.

We will continue to promote their excellent work ethic and support to others.'

Chris Johnson took on our case and was able to help us in this journey. The staff at Work Visa Lawyers are very professional organisation - from the office manager Karina to the immigration lawyers, we can only sing their praises. In particular, Christina Lien proved to be a Godsend to us. Her calm and professional manner took away most of the anxiety of filling out different applications. Her attention to detail and her constant guidance made life so much easier for us. From the time we applied for the Partner Visa and lodged a bridging visa, it took just over 12 months to be granted permanent residency. We could not be happier with everything they've done for us. We would definitely recommend Work Visa Lawyers to others who want to apply for an Australian Visa and to those who are having problems with their visa application.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

We could not be happier with our recent experience with Work Visa Lawyers and in particular all of the support and work that Christina and her team put into our approved application for a Partner Visa – offshore.

Moving our international family back to Australia was always going to be a big decision and stressful process, but right from our preliminary Skype consultation with Christina she set a professional but relaxed tone and assured us we were making a good decision about which visa to apply for (offshore vs onshore) and that the timing we had in mind could work.

My wife and I had a tight timeframe in mind and laid out our expectations up front. Christina more than delivered, responding to emails and questions daily at times and keeping us updated on all developments on her side.

We received our approved visa much faster than we had ever expected or even hoped and I have no doubt this was because of Christina and the work she put in.

We cannot thank Christina and the team at Work Visa Lawyers enough for everything they have done for our family. They took what is a very complicated and process and made it as straight-forward as is possible.

We highly recommend them if you are considering going through the same process.
